Christene Browne is an award-winning filmmaker and novelist. Browne is the first Black woman to direct and write a dramatic feature film in Canada. Browne lived in Regent from 1970 to 1985 and made her first documentaries there as part of the Regent Park Video Workshop in the 80’s.
