Shalini Kantayya is a YED Fellow, William J.Fulbright Scholar, and an Associate of the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism. Her film Coded Bias had its premiere at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival. On Earth Day 2016, Shalini’s debut film “Catching the Sun” with Executive Producer Leonardo DiCaprio was released on Netflix. This film was named a NY Times Critic’s Pick.

Moderator: Faduma Gure | Panelist: Shalini Kantayya

Faduma Gure is a Toronto-based curator and arts organizer. As the founder of The Black Nerds, Faduma is dedicated to hosting and cultivating spaces for Black nerds. Past Black Nerds events included video game tournaments, art exhibits and film screenings. Faduma Gure is also a co-founder of Own the Walls- a curatorial project that showcases the work of emerging BIPOC artists.
