Regent Park Film Festival’s 22nd Annual Emerging Directors’ Pitch Competition

Prize:
This year we’re accepting short documentary and narrative projects of 40 minutes or less in duration. The winner will receive:
- $1,000 cash prize from RBC
- *NEW* $500 cash prize and $2,000 worth of consultation and coaching from ACTRA Toronto
- Advisory post-production in Theatrical Mix Suite for sound, colour, VFX, and deliverables from Post City Picture & Sound ($7000 value)
- Colour-grading services provided by experts from Alter Ego Post ($12,800 value)
The Emerging Directors’ Pitch Competition is free to enter, open to all ages, and welcomes directors, producers, and creators working in all genres and styles. We highly encourage submissions by filmmakers from historically made-marginalized communities (filmmakers who identify as BIPOC, 2SLGBTQIA+, and/or as persons with a disability) and films that feature these communities.
Filmmaker Eligibility:
- Emerging is defined as having directed or produced no more than 3 films for festival and/or broadcast
- Selected finalists must commit to participating virtual pitch training sessions (dates TBD) and a 3-minute live pitch that will take place in-person during this year’s annual festival (November 28 – December 1, 2024)
Pitch Project Eligibility:
- Maximum length of 40 minutes (i.e. no feature films)
- For your application to be considered you must submit a single PDF with the following in the application form linked below:
- Logline (1 or 2 sentences, 50 word max. description) for your pitch
- Pitch (150 word max. outline): Share with us your why for making this film. This should includes your goals, aims and vision.
- Synopsis: Maximum 1 page summary of your short documentary or narrative short
- Artist statement outlining the inspiration and intentions behind your project (300 words max)
- Links to past completed works or portfolio
