Regent Park Film Festival’s annual summer film series, Under the Stars (UTS), returns on Wednesday, July 9, 16, 23. A pillar event in Regent Park since 2014, UTS brings people of all ages, cultures and communities together for nights of free film, food and performances in the heart of our neighbourhood, the Big Park, every summer.
This year we’re taking UTS on the road to Scarborough for a special screening in Milliken Park on Friday, July 25. This screening is part of Toronto Art Council’s Arts in the Parks program.

July 9: The Colors Within

Totsuko is a high school student with the ability to see the ‘colors’ of others. Colors of bliss, excitement, and serenity, plus a color she treasures as her favorite. Kimi, a classmate at her school, gives off the most beautiful color of all. Although she doesn’t play an instrument, Totsuko forms a band with Kimi and Rui, a quiet music enthusiast they meet at a used bookstore in a far corner of town. As they practice at an old church on a remote island, music brings them together, forming friendships and stirring affections. Will they discover their true ‘colors’?

We recruit volunteers for Under the Stars each year. This is a great opportunity to give back to your community, meet new people, enjoy our awesome selection of films, and gain a toolbox of new skills!




Important Information
Accessibility
All films will be open captioned in English.
Patrons are asked to bring their own blankets and chairs, and all seating is first-come, first-served. Mobility devices and strollers are welcome on the field.
We provide accessibility seating. Visit our info desk on the field on the day of the screening or contact info@rpff.ca before the day of the screening to reserve accessible seating in advance.
There is a ramp in the park that leads to the field. There will be a padded route on the grass to ensure mobility devices and strollers can navigate easily through the park.
Washrooms
Regent Park
Washrooms are available in the Daniels Spectrum building across from the park. Alternatively, there are also washrooms in nearby restaurants.
Milliken Park
Public washrooms will be available to use at the park.
Food & Water
For Regent Park screenings, the Taste of Regent Park takes place in the park before the movie and provides an array of affordable, healthy, and culturally-diverse foods.
RPFF sell popcorn, pop, and bottled water at affordable prices. We encourage guests to bring their own refillable water bottles, as there are two public water fountains in the park.
How to get to the Big Park (Regent Park)
TTC Directions
From Dundas Station take the 505 Streetcar going East. Get off at Sackville Street (one stop past Parliament).
From Broadview Station take the 505 Streetcar going West. Get off at Sackville Street (one stop past Sumach)
Driving from North of Regent Park
Take the Don Valley Parkway South, exiting on Bayview Avenue/Bloor Street exit. Take Bayview Avenue South till River Street, turn right. Drive on River until you reach Dundas, turn left till Sackville.
How to get to Milliken District Park
Milliken Park is located at 5555 Steeles Ave E at the intersection of Steeles Ave E & Middlefield Rd. The screening will be held on the northeast corner of the park, near the Steeles entrance (Between McCowan & Middlefield Road).
By Transit: The following TTC buses have routes that pass near Milliken Park: 129, 129A, 53B, 953A, 53. Milliken Go is the nearest GO station to Milliken Park.
Parking
Regent Park
Paid public parking is available in the underground lot beneath Daniels Spectrum. The vehicle entrance is located at the rear of the building, accessed via Sackville Street on the western side of the building. Parking is $10.00 for 8 hours and can be paid by cash or credit card.
Additional paid public parking can be found in an underground lot beneath the RBC Royal Bank, just north of Dundas Street East off Regent Street.
Milliken Park
Free Parking: at the two entrances – Park entrance at 5555 Steeles Ave E (between McCowan & Middlefield Road) and at Milliken Park Community Recreation Centre at 4325 Mccowan Rd.
