We’re Hiring a new Executive Director! Here are some helpful hints from our current E.D., Tendisai Cromwell

We had a chat with Tendisai Cromwell, current Executive Director of Regent Park Film Festival, about the role. Here’s what she had to say about the position and some handy things to know!

1) What are some qualifying questions for this role?

Do you identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, Person of Colour)?
Are you committed to community-based arts?
Are you incredibly organized?
Are you up for the challenge of sustaining a non-profit financially?
Are you familiar with fundraising for a non-profit organization?
Are you a visionary?
Do you have a strong community focus?
Do you prioritize local arts?

2) What makes it great to work here?

Our team is filled with passionate people and we have a very warm and welcoming environment. There’s a huge focus on social justice and equity alongside optimism and joy. You’ll fit in if you love working in communities like Regent Park and enjoy the impact of community-based arts.

3) What are some of the challenges of this role?

No day is like the one that preceded it. You have to be okay with rapid change, long days, and be able to handle various challenges when they arise. Whether it’s event planning or managing different relationships and different kinds of people, you have to be adaptable. It’s also incredibly important to remain organized.
