Regent Park Film Festival launches a new project that sparks an exciting artist and community collaboration in Regent Park.

The project, titled What Brings Us Here / What Takes Us Away?, asks filmmakers to document stories of community groups as they work to carve out a space for themselves in the re-developing neighbourhood.

Together, two filmmakers and two community arts groups will create new media works that explore the struggles, triumphs, and motivations behind grassroots arts activity through the broader theme: What Brings Us Here / What Takes Us Away? The finished works will be installed at the Daniels Spectrum, Regent Park’s Arts and Cultural Center, during the 11th Annual Regent Park Film Festival.

Featuring Dance Documentarian Kathleen Smith, along with Regent Park’s own dance troupe the Southside Swag, and Festival’s old friend and filmmaker Richard Fung, with the Inspired Souls, a well-recognized music group in the community.

Thanks to our partners LIFT and Daniels Spectrum.  This project is made possible by support from the Canada Council for the Arts.
